💧 How Does an Industrial RO Water Plant Work?

The industrial RO water treatment process follows a systematic purification method that involves multiple filtration stages

Pre-Treatment

Raw water is routed through a multi-media sand filter and an activated carbon filter to eliminate turbidity, residual chlorine, and organic contaminants. A commercial-grade water softener may be integrated to minimize calcium and magnesium hardness, ensuring membrane protection and enhanced plant performance.

High-Pressure Pumping

A robust high-pressure pump propels pre-filtered water into the industrial reverse osmosis system. This high-pressure mechanism is crucial to surpass osmotic pressure, allowing the RO membranes to separate pure water from high TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) content.

Membrane Filtration

Central to the RO water purification plant, semi-permeable membranes remove dissolved salts, microbes and heavy metals. Only water molecules pass through the membrane pores, while concentrated impurities and brine are flushed out through the reject stream.

Post-Treatment & Storage

The RO reject stream, rich in concentrated salts and impurities, is either channeled to an effluent treatment plant (ETP) or reused after recovery treatment, aligning with industrial water recycling standards and zero liquid discharge (ZLD) protocols.
